BENTA: Jamaican musical instrument

The benta is a large one-string bamboo zither that is from
Jamaica. The musical instrument is an idiochord, in that the string of the
musical instrument is manufactured from the same piece of bamboo that the body
of the instrument is made of. The musical instrument is performed by two men
sitting astride the instrument at the ends, 0ne player striking the string of
the instrument and the other player changing the pitch of the string by using a
gourd that is like the guitar slide.
The musical instrument is mainly used as an accompaniment
musical instrument to dinki minki mourning ceremonies in Saint Mary Parish and
Portland Parish.
