Theodore Meir Bikel was born on the 2nd May 1924. He is an Austrian actor, a folk musician and a composer. He appeared for the first time in The African Queen in the year 1951 and was nominated for the award of the Academy for the supporting role he played as Sherriff Max Muller in the Defiant Onesd in the year 1958.

Theodore Meir Bikel is the President of the Associated Actors and Artistes of America and was president of Actors' Equity in the later part of the 1970s and early part of the 1980s. He works as the Chair of Board of Directors of Partners for Progressive Isreal, where he also teaches.
Theodore Meir Bikel’s autobiography called Theo was published in the year 1995.
Theodore Meir Bikel has been married for the total of 4 times. He married Ofra Ichilov in the year 1942 and they divorced in the next year. He married his second wife called Rita Weinberg Call in the year 1967 and they had two children together and they divorced in the year 2008. He got married the conductor Tamara Brooks later in that year and she died in the 2012. He married Aimee Ginsburg on the 29th December 2013.
