Biography
Michel Laub graduated in law at Federal University of
Rio Grande do Sul in the year 1996. He enlisted in the journalism of the
country at the PUC-RS but he never finished the course. Michel Laub worked as a lawyer in Porto Alegre. Michel Laub wrote about
business and politics of the country for the magazines of the country like Carta
Capital and República. He moved to the city of Sao Paulo in the year 1997 and
it was there that he worked on Bravo, a magazine of the city. Michel Laub published his first book called Não depois do que aconteceu, which was a
collection of short stories in the year 1998.
He was the coordinator of the publications and the courses of the Instituto
Moreira Salles and he later took up the function of the editor of the website.
His first novel
called Música Anterior, which was
published in the year 2001 was given the award of the Erico Verissimo
Award from União Brasileira de Escritores in the genre of the New Author. In
the year 2005, he was handed the award of a scholarship from Fundação Vitae and
that gave him the permission to write the work called O Segundo Tempo. Diário
da Queda, which he wrote for a grant from Funarte, and that was his first work
that addressed his Jewish origin from the grandfather’s record.
