Luís Caetano Pereira Guimarães Júnior

Luís Caetano Pereira Guimarães Júnior was born on the 17^th February 1845 in the city of Rio de Janeiro; he died on the 20^th May 1898. He was a Brazilian diplomat, poet, novelist and a dramaturgist.

 He got his bachelor’s degree in the Faculdade de Direito do Recife in the year 1869, he was in the same class with the writer of the country called Araripe Júnior. His works was changed from Romanticism to Parnasianism.

Luís Caetano Pereira Guimarães Júnior resided in Santiago de Chile, Roma and in the city of Lisbon as a diplomat and it wwas there that he met with the intellectuals like Eça de Queiroz, Ramalho Ortigão, Guerra Junqueiro and Fialho de Almeida. He was a member and one of the founding members of the Academia Brasileira de Letras.
