Barbara Albert was born on the 22nd September 1970 in Vienna. She is an Austrian writer, film producer and a film director.

Barbara Albert studied film making at the Wiener filmakademie. The first film that made her known to the larger population of the country was Nordrand that explained the reality of life of Yugoslavian children that resides in the city of Vienna.
She is the head of the production company of the country called Coop 99 together with Jessica Hausner and Antonin Svoboda.
