Nélida Piñon was born in the city if Rio de Janeiro of Galician
immigrants. Her first novel written in the year 1961 is called Guia-Mapa de Gabriel Arcanjo. She became popular
for the erotic novels she wrote called A casa de paixão and A força do destino,
which she wrote in the year 1977. She had her biggest success in the year 1984
with the novel called A Republica dos Sonhos.
Nélida Piñon was the former president of the Academia
Brasileira de Letras.
