Manuel Carneiro de Sousa Bandeira Filho

Manuel Carneiro de Sousa Bandeira Filho was born on the 19^th April 1886; he died on the 13^th October 1968. He was a brazilian poet, critic and a translator. He wrote more than 20 books of poetry and prose.

He was a literature professor and was elected to the Brazilian Letters Academy where he became the 3^rd occupant of the 24^th Chair whose patron was called Júlio Ribeiro. . the election took place on the 29^th August 1940 and he succeeded Luís Guimarães.

Manuel Carneiro de Sousa Bandeira Filho died at the age of 82 on the 18^th October 1968. His funeral took place at the grand hall of the Brazilian Letters Academy and he was buried at the St. John the Baptist Cemetary.
