Emma de la Barra popular by the pseudonym César Duáyen was born in the year 1861; she died in the year 1974. She was an argentine writer popular for the novel she wrote called Stella in the year 1905 and MechaIturbe in the year 1906. The novels were praised for their exhibition of the contemporary women.

César Duáyen is closely linked with the Costumbrismo movement. Her novel called Stella was the first best-seller in the country. In the year 1943, the novel was adapted into a movie that starred Zully Moreno as the character called Stella.
Some other notable works she did are El Manantial in the year 1908, Eleonora in the year 1933 and the La dicha de Malena in the year 1943.
