Mario delTránsitoCocomarola was born on the 15th August 1918
in San Cosme, Corrientes; he died on the 19th September 1974. He was
an argentine musician, folklore and is recognized to be one of the most
influential figures of chamame.
His repertoire of close to 400 compositions included some classics like
Kilometro 11, Puente Pexoa and Rincon dishoso.

In the 1930s and in the 1940s, Cocomarola joined several music groups
like Los
hijos de Corrientes", el "TríotípicoCorrentino", "Los
Kunumí", and the "TríoTaragüí". In the year 1942, Cocomarola recorded his first album in the
Odeon, he later started his solo career that lasted until the year of his
death. He played together with most significant figure of the music genre

After as compilation
at the time of gall bladder operation, he died on the 19th September
1974. In Corrientes, the provincial act No. 3278 set up that date as the
Chamame Day. He was after his death named the Illustrous Citizen of the City of
Corrientes.
