José Antonio Bottiroli was born on the 1st January 1920; he
died on the 15th March 1990. He was an argentine classical music

Biography
José Antonio Bottiroli was born in Rosario, Argentina on the 1st
January 1920 and he died on the 15th March 1990 in Rosario. From the
time he was a child till the day he died, he lived alternately in Rosario and
in Los Cocos, a hill town retreat that is located in Cordoba region of the
country. In the year 1948, he finished from the school of Professors
No. 2 Juan María Gutiérrez of the National University of
the Littoral and he finished with a degree in music and got the Rotary Club
award for the best music student.
Bottiroli was the director of the Vocal Women’s Sextet Juan Maria
Gutierrez, and later Vocal Sextet called Loreley and with this he conducted
shows in the city of Rosario, radio LR1 El Mundo. He was the man that composed
the Belgrano March-song with the lyrics of the music by Ernesto Aturo Sanchez
Quierolo. In the year 1960, the Belgrano – song was given approval by the
decree of the National Bpard of Education and the General Board of Education of
the Santa Fe region to be added in te music repertoire of the schools of the
country and the school of the region of Santa Fe. The song was approved to be
the official music of the city to be recited in ceremonies at the National Flag
Memorial in remembrance to the creation of Flag of the country and in the
memoroy of General Manuel Belgrano. The music is the only musical work that is
dedicated to Manuel Belgrano, the creator of the national flag of the country.
The music was premiered on the 11th May 1962 by the Military
Institute Choir and Infantry Regiment No.12 General Arenales’s brass band that
was conducted by Captain Antonio Rabuffetti.
As a player of the
piano, Bottiroli played in the solo recitak and in the
chamber music duets with Oscar Costa, a player of the violin, cellist
Pedro Farruggia, soprano Gabriela Moner, contralto AzucenaRacca de Deseta, and
in piano duets with Jacinto TeránFernández and Nicolás A. Alessio. On the 4th
October 1951, Bottiroli conducted the
Rosario Symphony Orchestra at the El Circulo Theatre, and he gave the American
premier of the Concerto for the Oboe and Orchestra by Nicolas A. Alessio and
the Festive Mass Opus.
In the year 1962, v was given the award of the Crisol Music Competition
Award of the Rosario and in the year 1963, he composed the hymn of the school
St. Antonio Maria Gianelli of the Rosario with the lyrics by Minerva Marchiori
de Bruno. In the year 1970, Bottiroli got the scholarship from the Institute of
Haspanic culture to Study in Europe, first in Madrid and the later in
Barcelona, Spain and finally in Rome, Italy.
He was the dean of the Normal School Teachers No. 3 and the College
Commerce General Belgrano of Rosario. He was teaching music at the National
College No. 1, the Sagrado Corazon College in Rosario. She was a teacher of
music to the inmate at the prison of the city of Rosario. He composed the total
of 113 works of music; 70 piano works, 23 chamber music
works, 8 choral works and 12 symphonic works. His complete works were compiled
in the year 2011 by Fabio Benegas.
