Horacio"Chango"Spasiuk

Horacio"Chango"Spasiuk was born on the 23^rd September 1968 in Apostoles, Misiones. He is an argentine chamame musician and an accordion player. He is popular with the name Chango.

Chango is of Ukrainian grandparents had a strong Polka music influence in his early days. He owned his first accordion at the age of 12, and he played the musical instrument at the parties he attended.

Early Years

A musical-talent TV show that toured around little towns in the country opened the door for the Spasiuk to perform at the provincial festivals. When he completed his high school, Chango went to Posadas, the capital city of Misiones to study anthropology, but soon after he dropped out of the school. In the year 1989, Chango was given an invitation to play in the Cosquin, probably the most crucial folkloric music festivain the country, Argentina, and it was there that he got the Consecration Prize. After the Cosquin, Chango moved to Buenos Aires, and that was where he recorded his first music album, which he called ChangoSpasiuk.

The album gained some popularity not just among folk and the music audience of the world, but with his modern pattern, also the rock and pop fans. He served as a guest musician with the bands like Divididos and Cienfuegos, though he continued with his own recording. In the year 2000, he got back to his roots, recording Polcas de mi tierra live parties and weddings in the small towns of Misiones with his musical instrument, accordion. Since then, Chango has been travelling all over the world with the ChangoSpasiuk Orchestra and he has edited an international recompilation of his works in the year 2003.

Chango has been championed in the European music world by the world music journalists.
