Boualem Bessaïh

Boualem Bessaïh was born in the year 1930 in El Bayadh. He is an Algerian politician and a writer. The highest responsibility he has had was to supervise the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Algeria. Boualem Bessaïh is a professor of letters and Human sciences from the University of Algiers.

Boualem Bessaïh joined the maquis in the early part of the year 1957 and took a position and handled crucial functions in the ranks of the armed Revolution of the country. He was among the people that founded the Algerian secret services and he led the section of the espionage based in Tripoli. He handled the service of the general secretariat of the national council of the Algerian revolution from the year 1959 to the year 1962.

Boualem Bessaïh joined the government and held many corporate offices from the year 1979. He was selected to successively be the Minister of Information, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, as well as Minister of Culture and Minister of Foreign affairs of the country in the year 1988.

Boualem Bessaïh actively took part in the tripartite Algeria – Morocco – Saudi Arabia, decided by the Arab Summit in Casablanca, the effort added to get to the Taif Agreement stopping the suffering of the people of Lebanon.

Boualem Bessaïh was appointed in the year 1997, to be the member of the council of the nation in regards of the third party presidential, and after which he was elected to be the president of the Commission of Foreign Affiars of the council. Boualem Bessaïh held the position of the Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco, as he was appointed by the president of the country to the high office of the president of the Constitutional Council in September of the year 2005 till March 2012.
