Wajiha Rastagar

Wajiha Rastagar is a musician from Afghanistan. She is a wife to another musician and music composer called Farid Rastagar. She performs her music in Pashto and in Persian. Currently she is living in Germany together with the husband and the children. She kept on with her career from Germany. Wajiha is one of the most influenced and talented music players from Afghanistan and probably, she is one of the most controversial music players in the country. Even though as a student, she was already known by the people of the country, with her patriotic marching music, ‘watan ranaa kawoo’ her music career started officially with the Guli Surkh music orchestra that was formed by her husband and his friends, like the popular music player called, Amir Jan Sabori. She was a student of the primary school when she first participated in the cultural activities of her school.

Wajiha got married to Farid, who was a musician and a music arranger in Guli Surkh. She has been singing a notable number of music of the country among which the range some folksongs of the country that are popular. Mopst of the music that she made are popular among the people of the country and also in Iran. Her music named Nazi Jan was re-played by some musicians from Iran. She was focused on again when she brought out the album Delk-i-khoshbawar that was well played. This music album won the best seller award in the year 2003 from the Khorasan Music. She got the title of the best musician of the year in her country and in Europe.

Farid and Wajiha have been living in exile since 1992 in Germany. They have produced about 5 CDs and music Videos while in Germany and they have had more than 40 Concerts since then in Europe, USA, Canada and Australia. Hadia Rastagar is the daughter of Wajiha who is 7 years of age and currently singing, she sang the Alocha album, the first album of Afghanistan Children. She is a player of the keyboard and Zerbaghali.
