The soca is a type of dance music that derived from Trinidad and Tobago from the calypso music. It initially mixed the melodic poetic beat of calypso with the persistent drumming (which is frequently an electronic in the recent music) and indigenous chutney music. The soca music has changed for the past 20 years mainly by artists from Trinidad, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Guyana, Saint Lucia, Barbados, Barbuda, and Antigua, some of the ensembles from Dominica, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Haiti and the Lesser Antilles.
