From the beginning of the early years
of 60s there was Romanian active Rock scene. Base on their free character which
was connected with the western culture and the capitalist society, the
communist administration cut as much as possible the rock artists. From their
beginning they had a paria social position. The signs of the trend like: long
hair, stage character, jeans were considered immoral. The ensembles motivated
under the name of instrumental-choral musical band to avoid the expression of
rock which was considered to be rebellious. In spite of this, the rock scene
fought with importance in one type of official underground before the revolt
from the year 1989.

Veterans of the scene kept the rock
movement alive under complex limiting situations. The link with the news from
the west was made within the radio station like Free Europe which was banned to
listen. Rock in time was troubled and some of its Romanian followers are more
than the music. It was the attitude against the lack of freedom. Some of the

The political liberty and the cultural openness
gotten after the 1989 revolt marked a current period for the rock music in Romanian,
the scene is currently very active even the rock music is not one of the
primary acts in the Romanian mass media. The rock clubs have a very rich list
shows. The rock usually organized an annual festivity within the national and
international characters.
