Music
is part of the program at the public school in Saint Lucia; they have been
teaching in younger grade classes, but were only brought into secondary
institution in the year 1999. The primary institution in Saint Lucia, music and
other artistic learning is well-known using incidentally to teach other
subjects or for unique events. About 40% of the island’s institutions engage in
general music learning, while other spent more time on general group singing or
choir or recorder band entertainment. In the year 2003, a cord program was constituted
for the primary pupils.

In
the lower secondary class, about 70% of the schools teach music. Many of the
educational institutions do not normally direct in music offer volunteer clubs
or other more informal chances for musical improvement. Many of the educational
institutions have established bands, most usually a wind band which is 30% of
educational institution or a steelpan ensemble of 20% or combo orchestra of
20%. The public educational institution field has also joined with the Saint
Lucia School of Music to create the National Youth Choir, String Group and Secondary
Schools Wind Band. The government under the Ministry of Education has also
assists a series of festivals and musical special activities, both for the gain
of all students and the improvement of the musically-gifted among them.
The
Saint Lucia institute of music is an independent organization of music learning
which has two offices on the island, one in the north and the other in the
south. This was formed in the year 1987, and has a student body of about four
hundred students. The institution’s declared its goal to give music educational
institution for all the levels, and also offer community chances for musical
improvement, to enable train and professional creation of teachers, and to
create institutions as a musical resource. There is also an important music
educational center managed by a choral orchestra from the fishing community
known as Anse la Raue; this center gives music educational institutions chance
for gifted and neglected children from all over the island.
