The
government has valued in popularizing the music company, and has created the
Musical Development Foundation (CDF) to achieve its goal. In the year 2004, the
first-ever M&C Fine Art Awards were given to Saint Lucian musicians, an
occasion assisted by the CDF. The traditional research center has also been
important part in Lucian cultural research since the year 1973, and has also in
print journal known as Lucian Kaiso, dedicated to Lucian calypso, since the
year 1990. The island’s calypso customs are also famous at the annual known as
kaiposium (a kaisosymposium), which held since the year 1987. The Lucian music
company remains little-known internationally and has small economic influence.
The government of the Saint Lucia has worked with the OECS to popularize the
indigenous music company through knowledgeable property law and assisting
festivities and other events.
The
very essential festival in the current Lucian culture is known as Jounen Kweyol
(international Creole day) which is held in every year on October 28 since the
year 1983. The Jounen Kweyol is assisted by the Bannzil Kweyol, an international
cooperation. Saint Lucia events are run by the traditional research center in
association with the national research and Development Foundation and the
Mouvman Kweyol Sent Lisi (Saint Lucia Creole Trend). Lucian law guards the
owners of the knowledgeable property, such as the songwriters, through the
Copyright Act of the year 1995 and the copyrights are controlled by the
Hewanorra Musical Society.
In
Saint Lucian, there is also a festival known as Saint Lucian Jazz Festival
which is a major attention, and it is renowned as the part of the indigenous
music scene. It is an annual activity for fifteen years, and has organized a
type of jazz artists, in addition to indigenous talent. The 2005 festivity was
a improvement for the indigenous company, netting about $46 million. The
festival is assisted by a series of organizations and groups, possibly most
significantly BET.
