KAKKO: Japanese musical instrument

The kakko is a double-reeded drum that is from Japan. One way in which the musical instrument varies from the normal taiko drum is in the way that it is manufactured taut. Just like the Shime-Daiko and tsuzumi, the skin of the heads are 1st spread over metal hoops before they are placed on the body of the instrument, trying them on each other tightening them and making them taut. Kakko drum are often placed on their sides on stands so that the musical instrument can be played with the use of stick known as bachi on the two heads. The musical instruments have been used in taiko groups, though they are also used in older court music of Japan known as gagaku.
The musical instrument is derived from the Chinese jiegu, a musical drum that is popular in China during the Tang Dynasty, as the Korean galgo.
