Ranchera Music of Mexico

Ranchera is one of the traditional Mexican music that is initially sung by only one artist with a guitar. During the years of Mexican rebellious in the early 20^th century, it later became close associate with the mariachi groups which change in Jalisco.

Ranchera presently is also played with norteno (Conjunto) or banda. Gotten from the rural traditional folk music, ranchera built it symbol as a new national consciousness in response to the aristocratic tastes of era. The traditional rancheras peaches about love, nature or patriotism. The rhythms can be in 3/4, 2/4, or 4/4, imitating the tempo, polka, waltz and bolero respectively. The very renowned ranchera composers include Cuco Sanchez, Lucha Reyes, Vicente Fernandez, Antonio Aguilar and Jose Alfredo Jimenez who composed many of the well-known rancheras with compositions that is more than 100 songs that make him one of the most creative songwriters in the record of western music. The word ranchera came from the word rancho because the song was originated on the ranches alongside the countryside of rural Mexico.  Rancheras that have been accepted with conjuntos, norteno bands are from the northern Mo and southwestern United States is sometimes called nortenos in Spanish word in the north. Alejandro Fernandez, Lucha Villa, Pepe Aguilar, Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete, Lola Beltraran, Chavela Vargas, Vincente Fernandez, Jorge Negrete and Maria de Lourdes were the most important artists.
