Perhaps
the most popular and powerful punk band from the New Jersey is known as the
Misfits which was established in 1977 in Lodi in New Jersey, by singer and
songwriter known as Glenn Danzig and in 1983 he broke from the band and formed
Samhain in the year 1988. Like the former music of the Misfits, Adrenalin O.D
is usually credited with exploding the current N.J hardcore scene at the
beginning of the 1908s. Between those early hardcore ensembles was Rosemary’s
Babies. This ensemble is from Lodi as well, and also include drummer like Eerie
Von, who become the bassist for both the Samhain and Danzig. Other important
punk bands from the New Jersey include the hardcore punk band called Hogan’s
Heroes which is formed in the year 1984, Bouncing Soul, Streetlight Manifesto,
Mucky Pup, Titus Andronicus, The Gaslight Anthem, Early November, Hidden in
Plain View, Ted Leo, Senses Fail, Saves the Day, Screaming Females, My Chemical
Romance, Midtown, Patti Smith, The Wretched Ones, Bigwig and many others. Tom
Verlaine who is the founder and forerunner of the punk/new wave group
television band which is from Morristown in New Jersey, and also in the late
70s and the early 80s the Shore Core Punk rock scene changed at the Jersey
Shore with its focal point in the Long Branch and Asbury Park. This featured a
number of bands on Mutha records, which include the Chronic Sick, the Public
Disturbance, Fatal Rage, Dirge and other local bands like Mutha that created
the Hot Dog House in Asbury Park in their home base. The Shore also formed the
band Shrapnel which also featured Dave Wyndorf, Daniel Rey Rabinwitz and Phil
Caivano of Monster Magnet.
