came into Mexico in the 90s, when both small ensembles such as Los Matematicos
and the big groups like Orquestra de Pablo Beltran Ruiz have both the new ska
tunes and covers it as Jamaican hits. Later on the original wave ensembles of
the early 80s like Dangerous Rhythm and Kenny and also the Electric joined Ska
into their post-punk sound and more of the punk were influenced and brand of
Ska where started to produce in Mexico City in the late 80s and the genre has
its highest fame in the early 2000s, although it is still very well-known now.
Mexican ska orchestras include La Maldita Vecindad (Mexico City), Panteon
Rococo (Mexico City), Tijuana No (Tijuana, Baja Califorina; initial called
Radio Chantaje), and Mama Pulpa (Mexico City).
