Dansband Music of Norway

The name Dansband is derived from Sweden that plays dansbandsmusik. Dansdandsmusik is frequently danced in pairs and it is played by classical, electric, steel guitar, bass, saxophone, drum keyboard and accordion. The lyrics are inspired by romanticism and it is usually focused on love, peace, friendship, nature and old memories from the past. The genre established mainly in Sweden, but has extent to the neighbouring countries like Denmark, Norway and the Swedish peaking area of Finland. The time the music was introduced to Norway it was first known as Syenstoppar. The main supporter for dansband music is middle-aged adults. The music is frequently performed live by the bands at scenes where the primarily interest of the spectator is dancing, rather than watching the artists on stage. Though, numerous dansbands also release album and singles. The ensemble Ole Ivar scored the 1999 hit with the song tittle known as Jag trodde anglarna fanns joined with med Kikki Danielsson. Another renowned Norwegian song like Lys og varme was written by Age Aleksandersen and he became a renowned dansband song in Sweden as Ljus och varme.
