During the end of the 18th century, Polish classical music changed into national types like the polonaise. Franciszek Lessel, Maria Agata Szymanowska, Jozef Elsner, Ignacy Dobrzynski and Fryderyk Chopin were the most renowned composers during the 19th century. Also important opera composers include Stanislaw Moniuszko and Karol Kurpinski. Renowned soloists and composers include Henryk Wieniawski and Juliusz Zarebski. In the period of 19th and 20th centuries, the very notable composers were Wladyslaw Zelenski and Mieczyslaw Karlowicz. During the World War II Karol Szymanowski gained fame. Jozef Koffler became the first Polish twelve-tone composer (dodecaphonist).
