Classical music of Poland

During the end of the 18^th century, Polish classical music changed into national types like the polonaise. Franciszek Lessel, Maria Agata Szymanowska, Jozef Elsner, Ignacy Dobrzynski and Fryderyk Chopin were the most renowned composers during the 19^th century. Also important opera composers include Stanislaw Moniuszko and Karol Kurpinski. Renowned soloists and composers include Henryk Wieniawski and Juliusz Zarebski. In the period of 19^th and 20^th centuries, the very notable composers were Wladyslaw Zelenski and Mieczyslaw Karlowicz. During the World War II Karol Szymanowski gained fame. Jozef Koffler became the first Polish twelve-tone composer (dodecaphonist).
