A form of folk music which is known as Saidi (Upper Egyptian) is played by the Egyptian musicians from Upper Egypt. The most prominent Saidi groups are the Metqal Qenawi’s less Musiciens du Nil and they were selected by the government to represent Egyptian folk music aboard, other performers include Shouloukov, Ahmad Isamail, Omar Gharzawi, Sohar Magdy and Ahmed Mougahid.
