Ghana has their independence in the year 1957. The music of Ghana often reflects a Caribbean influence, yet is still retains a flavor all its own. While pan-Ghanaian music had been created for some time, the middle of the 20th century saw the creation of different Ghanaian pop music. High-life incorporated elements of swig, rock, jazz, soukous and ska. To a much lesser extent, Ghanaian artists found success in the United States and briefly, the United Kingdom with the surprise success of Osibisa’s Afro-rock in the 1970s.
