The
Greenland music is a combination of two mainly strands Danish and Nuit,
combined with influences from the United Kingdom and United States. The biggest
record label is ULO from the town of Sisimiut; it was initiated by Malik Hoegh
and Karsten Sommer. ULO released both Greenlandic rock bands such as Sume, pop
singers such as Rasmus Lyberth and hip pop music crews such as Nuuk Posse as
well as Inuit traditional music. Elements of recent Greenlandic music have also
been used in the music of Kristian Blak, a Danish/ Faroese jazz musicians.

Greenland’s
musical character has been termed as definitely a rock country, both musically
and literally according to Greenlandic drummer Hans Rosenberg. The Royal Danish
Ministry of Foreign Affairs describes all Greenlandic music except the drum
dances as influenced by the external styles.
