National Music of Burkina Faso

The national anthem of the Burkina Faso is Une Seule Nuit, it is written by Thomas Sankara, and has been the official anthem of the country since 1984 when upper Volta became known as Burkina Faso, even after the Sankara was killed in a coup.

The national Museum of the music in Ouagadougou started its collection in the year 1983 and has hundreds of musical instruments which include balafons and bara drums. The Semaine Nationale de la culture which is led by every two years since 1983, it is a music festival that has helped produces famous music stars.
