The music of Burkina Faso includes folk music of 60 different ethnic orchestras; the Mossi people are centrally located around the capital Ouagadougou, which ccounts 40% of the population while to the south, Gurunsi, Gurma, Dagaaba and Lobi populations that speak Gur languages, closely related to the Mosssi language extend into the coastal states. In the north and east the Fulani of the Sahel preponderate, while in the south and the west the Mandle languages are rare; Samo, Bissa, Bobo, Senufo and Marka. The Burinabe traditional music has started to thrive and musical output remains quite different. The famous music is mainly in French; Burkina Faso has yet to produce a major pan African success.
