The two main music institution in the Virgin
Islands are the Island centre (on St. Croix) and the Reichold centre (on St.
Thomas). The both centres provide a venue for shows of Western classical music,
jazz, musical theatre and international pop stars, St. Croix is also the home
to a public performance venue in St. Gerald’s hall in Frederisted, where the
local people dance quadrilles and also perform. The traditional Virgin Islander
traditional music festival were performed until the late 1950’s and were based on
costumed masquerading.
