The kittle or the skittle is a narrow drum that has one head made out of goat skin. The drum is played with two mallets to give out a syncopated rhythm in the Guyanese masquerade and street bands. The slaves of Guyana used to celebrate the end of the cropping season when the farms owners would permit them to play with drums, dance and singing.
