The alouloun is a Beninese musical instrument that is used to play their music called Adjogan. It is a stick with some metallic rings enclosed with jingle in time with the beating of the stick. This musical instrument is said to have descended from the staff of office of King Te-Agdanlin. It was produced for the royal court in the Porto-Novo region and was initially intended to be a symbol of the King’s power and authority. It became a tradition or more of culture to use the instrument to honor the high standing official in the royal court. The Alouloun is on display at the Royal palace Museum in Porto-Novo of Benin.
