Karlheinz Böhm was the founder of the trust Menschen für Menschen that assisted
the needy people of Ethiopia. He was given honorary Ethiopian citizenship in
the year 2003.
Karlheinz Böhm had two citizenships because his father was the Austrian
conductor called Karl Bohm and the mother was the German-born soprano called
Thea Linhard. He was the only child of the parent and he spent his youth age in
Darmstadt, Hamburg and the city of Dresden. In the city of Hamburg, Karlheinz
Böhm attended his elementary school and the Kepler-Gymnasium. He faked papers
that allowed him moving to Switzerland in the year 1939 and it was there that
he attendedLyceum Alpinum Zuoz, which was a boarding school.
He moved to the city of Graz with the parents in the year 1946. Originally, he
had the intentions of being a piano player but he got poor feedback when he
tried-out. His father encouraged him to study the English and the German languages
as well as literary studies, which was followed by the study of history of arts
for a semester in the city of Rome after which he stopped and went back to the
