José Bento Renato Monteiro Lobato was born on the 18th April 1882; he died on the 4th July 1948. He was one of the Brazilian most influential writers. He is most known for the children’s books that he wrote, which are set on the fictional Sítio do Picapau Amarelo, though previously a good fiction writer of the country and also a translator and an art critic.

He is a founder of one of the publishing houses of the country called Companhia Editora Nacional and he was also a fan of nationalism.
José Bento Renato Monteiro Lobato was born in Taubate, in the city of Sao Paulo. He is known for his work in the educational, but entertainment books for the children of the country, and that made up half of his production, the other half of his production and a good number of novels and short stories for the adult readers of the country.
Biography
Most of the books written by Renato Monteiro were set in the Sítio do Picapau Amarelo, a little farm in the countryside and they featured the elderly ranch owner called Dona Benta, her two grandchildren, Lúcia and Pedrinho and a black servant  as well as a cook.
Most the books written by Renato Monteiro are educational, and are all teaching things via the mouth of the old woman called Mrs Benta and by the small questions that are coming from the mouth of her small audience.
Renato Monteiro manufactured some rich crossovers with the use of elements from several sources like that of the movies, literature, cartoons and the mythology, always widely imaginative like in his books like A Chave do Tamanho and A Reforma da Natureza, which was the place he talked on the implications of all humans abruptly reducing in size.
Renato Monteiro’s bboks were turned to popular TV programs of the country and gthey included the five series of the Sítio do Picapau Amarelo adventures, the first in the year 1952 on the TV of of the country called TV Tupi, the second on the TV Cultura in the year 1964 and in the year 1967 on the Rede Bandeirantes, the other on the Rede Globo in the year 1977 and the last version of the series on the Rede Globo also  in the year 2001.
Renato Monteiro was also a popular publisher and a journalist of the country and he wrote often for many magazines and newspapers of the country and he was known and respected as a critic of the country also.
