Hermann Thimig

Hermann Thimig was born on the 3^rd October 1890; he died on the 7^th July 1982. He was an austrian film actor. Hermann Thimig appeared in the total of 102 movies of the country between the year 1916 and the year 1967.

Biography

Hermann Thimig was from a famous family of actors. His father Hugo Thimig was an actor, director and the director of the Burgtheatre of the city of vienna. His siblings Helene Thimig and Hans Thimig were also actors of the country.

At the time of his early days in the elementary school and high school in the city of vienna and many land reform schools in the city, Hermann Thimig played with the amateur theatre groups and private plays of the city.

He made his debut in the movies of the country after the one year military service of the country in the year 1910 at the Meiningen Hoftheater and he was there until his contract was uinterrupted by the outbreak of the World Wa I in the year 1914.

Because of severe Furunculosis in the year 1915, he was declared unfit for front.

While he was on duty, he made use of his home leave to the Royal Theater in Berlin for guest appearance and performed first at the Volksbühne.  His breakthrough was the change in the the Max-Reinhardt ensemble at the Deutsches Theater in the year 1916. That same year, he appeared for the first time in the movie of the coutry called The Countess Heyer.

At the time of the final stage of the World War II, he was among the list of people declared to be crucial artists by Adolf Hitler.

He was made an honarary member of the Burgtheatre in the year 1965 and in the year 1969, he got the Film Award for several years of excellent work in the German movie. He was handed the Honorary Ring Award of the city of Vienna in th year 1981.

Hermann Thimig had three children; his first daughter came fgrom his first marriage to actress Hanna (Guy)Thimig, and he had two daughters from his second marriage to Vilma Degoscher.
