Biography
Helmut Qualtinger was born in the city of Vienna; he studied medicine but
dropped from the University to become a reporter in the newspaper houses of the
country and a film critic for the local press of the country, as he started
writing text for the performances of the cabarets and the theatre of the country.
Helmut Qualtinger made his first appearance as an actor in the theatre of
the country and he attended the Max Reinhardt Seminar. He was seen in the cabaret
performances of the country in the starting part of the year 1947. In the year
1949, his first theatrical play called Jugend vor den Schranken and was staged in the city of Graz. He
collaborated on many cabarets programmes of the country till the year 1960 with
Gerhard
Bronner, Carl Merz, Louise Martini, Peter Wehle, Georg Kreisler, and Michael Kehlmann
with Namenlosen Ensemble.
He was known for his
practical jokes and in the year 1951, he launched a false report in many
newspapers of the country announcing a visit to the city of Vienna of a
fictional popular Inuit poet of the country called Kobuk.
