Edgard Leuenroth was born on the 31st October 1881 in Mogi
Mirim; he died on the 28th September 1968 in Sao Paulo. He was a
Brazilian journalist, publisher and a writer. He became popular in the country
because of the documentation of the earliest social movement of the country
especially the communist, the socialist and the anarchist worker’s
intellectual’s activities and movements.

Edgard Leuenroth was born in the city of Mogi Mirim in the state of Sao
Paulo to immigrant from Germany. He moved to the city of Sao Paulo with the
widowed mother at the age of 5.
When he got the professional world, Edgard Leuenroth had interest in
socialism as well as in the reivindication of the common workers of the
country. As he got introduced to the anarchist movement in the country, he
remained a loal member of the movement till he died.
Edgard Leuenroth published several
newspapers in the country and they are O Boi, O
Trabalhador Gráfico, A Lucta Proletária, Ação Direta, Spartacus,
A Plebe,
O Combate and A Voz do Povo.
At death, Edgard Leuenrothgave his collection
of media to the State University of Campinas, and they arranged for the Arquivo
Edgard Leueuroth, which was one of the most crucial historical sources of the
20th century social movements in the country.
