Early life
Curd Gustav was born on the 13th December 1915 in the city of
Munich borough of Solln, Kingdom of Bavaria German Empire. His father called
Kurt was a trader from Hamburg and the mother called Marie-Albertine,
was a French teacher.
Curd Gustav started his career as a journalist before he became an actor
at the urging of his wife who was an actress, Louise Basler. He spent most of
his early acting career in the theatre.
Curd Gustav was critical of National Socialism in Germany. In the year
1944, he was moved to an internment camp in Hungary as a political unreliable.
After the war, he turned to an Austrian citizen.
Personal Life
Curd Gustav maintained a home in France but always moved back to the city
of Vienna to perform on stage and that was where he died of a heart attack on
the 18th June 1982. Curd Gustav was interred in the Zentralfriedho
of the city.
