Víctor Heredia

Víctor Heredia was born on the 24^th January 1947 in Buenos Aires. He is an argentine singer and a songwriter. He is the author of the book TakiOngov, a symphonic work that was written about the TakiUnquy, a millenarian movement against the conquest of the Spaniards.

Biography

He was born in the neighborhood of the Monserrat, in the city of Buenos Aires, but he grew up in Paso del Rey, a city in Moreno region of Greater Buenos Aires. His paternal family is from France. When he was young, Víctor Heredia won the revelation prize in the Cosquin Festival. His works tackles the social problems in the Latin American and several human rights. He has recorded with artists likeJoan Manuel Serrat, Mercedes Sosa, León Gieco, Milton Nascimento, el CuartetoZupay [the Zupay Quartet], Silvio Rodríguez, and Pablo Milanés.

Víctor Heredia was banned at the time of the military Argentine dictatorship that started in the country in the year 1976. The dictatorship left thousands of the people of the country missing, including his sister, Maria Cristina. He worked with the organizations like Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo and the Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo that denounced the crimes of dictatorship in the country.

His works include TodavíaCantamos ("Still We Sing"), Sobreviviendo ("Surviving"), El viejoMatías ("The old man Matías"), Dulce Daniela ("Sweet Daniela"), and Razón de vivir ("Reason to live").
