Miguel Angel Varvello

Miguel Angel Varvello was born in the year 1943. He is an argentine musician who plays and teaches the musical instrument called bandoneon.

Angel Varvello was born in Canada de Gomez, a small town in the region of Santa fe Argentina. He was 6 when he found the musical instrument, it was love at first sight and his family was faced with the hardship of finding him a small musical instrument called the bandoneon ¾, so that he can start his studies of the musical instrument. The first teacher he had for the instrument was called Tito Aparicio. Angel Varvello never had plans to be a musician, it merely happened to him.

At 8, he showed up as a soloist on the radio stations LT2 and LT8 of the city of Rosario. He then started working as a freelance player of the bandoneon. He perfected his pattern with Jose Bustamante, and like AnibalTriolo and Astor Piazzolla before him, he gained from the influence of the mythical Rosario player of the instrument called Antonio Rios. With Tito Rossi, Angel Varvello also studied the harmony, the counterpart and the composition, and today, he is a player with good patterns on the musical instrument, combined with the natural gift for finding and lighting the natural spaces in music. At the age of 27, Angel Varvello moved to Buenos Aires, and it was there that he became one of the most popular players of the musical instrument on the tango scene of the country and played with various ensembles including the Jose Basso, Osvaldo Berlinghieri, Alberto Di Paulo, Carlos Lazari, Osvaldo Piro, Osvaldo Requena, Francisco Rotundo and Hector Varela tango orchestras. He set up his own groups, and with the groups he performed excellently in the tango venues of Buenos Aires like Michelangelo, Cano 14 and La Ciudad and he travelled all through the world.

Angel Varvello created Ensamble Trio made up of the bandoneon, the piano and the bass, he played duo with the guitarist called Jorge Labanca and along with the bandoneon player called LisandroAdrover, he set up the EnsamblePorteno that consisted of the flute, two violins, clarinet, two bandoneon, piano, the bass and the percussion musical instrument. The groups mostly used Angel Varvello’s own arrangement and performed and recorded most of his works. The albums called Despertar en Buenos Aires (EnsamblePorteño, 1978), MomentosInestables (Ensamble Trio, 1984) and Devenir (DuooVarvello- Labanca, 1989)are witnesses to the his work for the years.

Angel Varvello is currently a member of the orchestra accompanying the highly acclaimed show called Forever Tango that was staged all over the world. In the year 2002, the famous company called TESTIGO published a magic instrument, where Angel Varvello created the awareness of the exclusivity of the fabulous musical instrument in the classical music, a distinctive feat of this kind. He played the bach, Schubert, the Chopin, the Brahms and also the tango music. In the year 2003, the called calledZaf records from the country argentina, published the Tangos de Vanguardia Trio Ensemble, and he was the director and the master of all the arrangements. He acted the as the musical director of the show called Tango Dreams in advent with the symphony orchestra of the Albuquerque, New Mexico and Long Beach, California, USA, as well in the city of Tokyo, Japan.

His orchestra took part in the activities of the Montreal International Tango Festival of the year 2006 and the year 2007. He also took part in the Festival de tango de Buenos Aires of the year 2010, the nightly tribute to Rovira.

Angel Varvello interpreted as a soloist was performing in rooms Buenos Aires as the salon’s Golden Colon Theatre, Teatro San Martin, Faculty of Belgrano, National Radio, in the College of Music, at the , Angel Varvello is actively playing the role of an arranger and a composer. In the year 2012, Angel Varvello dropped a new CD in the classical music with the famous company called TESTIGO, concerto for bandoneon, the album consists of a concert for the musical instrument with strings, the piano, the harp instrument, the timpani and also the percussion musical instrument in three movements and it is accompanies by the works of Frederic Chopin, Johann Sebastian Bach as well as Achille-Claude Debussy and the tangos of the AugustinBardi, Eduardo Rovira Astor Piazzolla.

Angel Varvello also took part in a tribute to Eduardo Rovira that was arranaged by the National University of Lanus in the country, and interpreted the bandomania.
