MateusGaliano da Costa

MateusGaliano da Costa simply known with the name Mateus was born on the 19^th June 1984. He is an Angolan international footballer who is currently playing the role of a striker for the club, CD Primeiro de Agosto.

Football Career

After playing in his first professional for the modest squads in Portugal, Mateus signed a deal with Gil Vincente FC in the top division in January of the year 2006.he scored his first goal for the club in his debut on the 5^th February, and that was the match that was won 5-0 at home against Vitoria de Setubal.

He was at the center of the judicial controversy that came up in the football of Portugal called CasoMateus, meaning Mateus Affair, after a purportedly illegal registration by the Barcelos club. After a huge battle between Gil Vicente and CF OsBelenenses, Gil was relegated. After an abnormal season with the club, in the 2^nd level, Mateus joined Boavista for the 2007/08 season with the new club being relegated for irregularities as well.

In the 2008/09 season, Mateus joined Madeira’s CD Nacional and was immediately declared to be one of the offensive elements of the club; whether from the bench or as a starter in any game and he helped to gain the club a qualification for the UEFA Europa League. He kept on with his good job in the club, in the 2011/12 season; Mateus scored the total of 9 goals after playing 24 games for the club.

In the international level, he started playing for the Angolan national team since the year 2006. He was among the players of the country that took part in the 2006 FIFA World Cup and he played in all the group games for the country. Ever since his debut in the year 2006, Mateus has played the total of 46 games for the national team of the country and has scored the total of 7 goals for the country.
