Marco Paulo Rebelo Lopes known with the name Marco Paulo was born on the
6th June 1976. He is a retired football player of Angola who played
the role of a striker for the country.
Club Career
Marco Paulo was born in Luanda. After an unsuccessful graduation from the
youth academy of Benfica, he played his first senior team match for FC Alverca
in the second division football, as the club was the farm
team of Benfica. After that he left the club to a lower league where he played
for three different club, assisting GD Estoril Praia to gain promotion to the 2nd
division in the year 2003 with his best; 17 goals in 36 matches. Marco Paulo
scored the total of 33 goals for the club after playing the total of 92 matches
for the club.
Marco Paulo moved to France and joined StadeLavallois. He played the
total of 57 games for the club from the year 2004 to the year 2006 and recorded
13 goals to his name for the club. He joined Ionikos for the 2006/07 season,
playing the total of 7 games for the club. He retired from active football in
June 2007 at the age of 31.
International Career
Marco Paulo played for the Under-21 national team of Portugal in the year
1997. He opted to play for the Angolan national team at the senior level. He
played the total of 4 games for the national team of the country. He was among
the national team played that participated in the 2006 FIFA World Cup
qualification games for the country. His one and only goal for the national
team of the country came in the match that was played against Gabon in the 2006
FIFA World Cup Qualification games.
