Luis Alberto "El Flaco" Spinetta was born on the 23rd
January 1950; he died on the 8th February 2012. He was an argentine
musician. He is one of the most influential rock music players of the Southern
America. Together with Charly Garcia, he is seen to be the father of Argentine
Rock music. He was born in Buenos Aires in the residential neighborhood of
BajoBelgrano. In his early years as a kid, he was already listening to all
types of music in the country. In the year 1967, amongst the repressive
political climate of the country, he formed a band group known as Almendra with
his schoolmates.

Contrasting with the backwards and authoritarian government of General
Juan Carlos Ongania, Buenos Aires was passing through a cultural success based
on the new art expression. In his lyrics, there are multiple influences from
poets, writers and artists like Arthur Rimbaud,
Vincent van Gogh, Carl Jung, Sigmund Freud, Friedrich Nietzsche, Michel
Foucault, Gilles Deleuze, Carlos Castaneda and Antonin Artaud.
On the 23rd
December 2011, he published on the Twitter account of his son Dante that he was
suffering from lung cancer. He died on the 8th February 2012 in his
native country, Argentina at the age of 62.
Music
In the year 1969, Spinetta’s band called Almendra recorded his
first music album. They began recording and playing exclusively and later it
became successful eventually.
After a long stay in Europe, went back to his country, Argentina and
after that he formed a new band called PescaoRabioso. With a greater sound and
expressing via their songs and lyrics, the tension of the streets in an highly
violent country, his group made their album debut in the year 1972. It was both
the continuation of the creative works of Spinetta and a quick and gradual
change in the pattern of his music and lyrics. Later, the band recorded a
second album. Although a third album from the group was dropped in the year
1973 and named Artaud, it carried the name of the band when they were
dissolved. So it was mostly solo album by Spinetta. In the year 1974, Spinetta
formed a new bang group called Invisible. With the new bandSpinettarecord three
music albums called Invisible,
Durazno Sangrando and El Jardín De Los Presentes. With the group
called the invisible, the new tunes were more harmonic.
After recording and editing a failed album in the United States in the
year 1979, with the lyrics in the English language and destined to the Unites
States Market, Spinetta
went back to his country to record two albums with a short lived Almendra
Revival and engaged on a new project called Spinetta Jade.
Spinetta Jade proved to be successful and an innovative band. He was
joined by some of the greatest musicians of the country of those and al time to
assist him in the building of the new sound he was building since the
invisible. The Product; a blend of jazz and rock music that was not see in the
country and that dodged the boom of the symphonic rock and got to both the
country and to the entire world in the early part of the 1980s. the four albums
Alma de Diamante (1980), Los NiñosqueEscriben en el Cielo
(1981), BajoBelgrano (1983) and
Madre en Años Luz (1984) are
representing the a unique pattern and also the footprint of the Spinetta’s evolution. Spinetta joined effort
with Charly Garcia and gave what was perhaps the most crucial show in the
history of the rock music of the country. After dissolving the Spinetta Jade in
the year 1984, Spinetta worked on an album with Charly, but suddenly they
dropped their effort.
In the year 1982, Spinetta restarted his solo project and from then never
left them, starting with the Kamikaze in the year 1982, which gathered together
a good number of previous unreleased tracks. After a long break, hugely because
of his conflicts with recording companies, he finally opened a new period in
his music with his new band called Spinetta y los
SociosdelDesierto. Within the next three year, Spinetta created and dropped four albums and created another legend in
the rock music of the country. Two studio albums, the doubleSociosdelDesierto of the year
1997 and Los Ojos of the year
1999 brought a new sound. Towards the end of the year 1999, the music band
quietly dissolved. Spinetta started his
solo career, including Silver
Sorgo (2001), Obras en Vivo
(2002), a live album, Para Los Árboles
(2003), Camalotus (2004), which
is a single of three songs that are yet to be dropped and a remix called Pan (2005) and UnMañana (2008).
In the year 2005, Spinetta got the Platinum Konex Award for the
best rock soloist of the 1995 to 2005 decade. A good number of book and TV
documentaries have been dedicated to him.
Family
Spinetta is with four children; Dante, Catarina,
Valentino and Vera. Dante Spinetta has
a successful band that began in the 1990s, IllyaKuryaki
and the Valderramas.
