Carlos Posadas was born on the 2nd February 1874; he died on the 11 December 1918 at the age of 43. He was an outstanding musician from Argentina who was dedicated to the tango music of the country in the 19th century.

Biography
Carlos Posadas was born in Buenos Aires on the 2nd December 1874. He is the son of a musician, a journalist and a soldier called Manuel G. Posadas and Emily Smith. He was the brother of Manuel Posadas who was also successful in the local music scene of the country, his brother was also his first teacher of the musical instrument called violin.
He got married to Mercedes Sumiza and they had many children together: Manuel Carlos, who was a jazz musician, Luis María, Emilia, Haydée, Delia, Adela and Julia.
While his biggest contribution to the music of the country was as a composer, Carlos Posadas joined the orchestral grouping dedicated to the operetta and the zarzuela at different times in his short profession as a player of the violin.
As a performer, he was the man that led the tango orchestra, he played the violin and or the piano for the carnival dances in the city. As a player of the guitar, he performed at the Opera at the famous company of Madame BertheRassimi. Together with the brothers, Juan Jose Castro, who is a leading conductor and a composer and Jose Maria Castro, Carlos Posadas played often in religious events.
He was also seen in a trio with EnnioBolognini, a player of the cello and Pizzapia, a player of the piano in the first film theatre of the city.
He performed with some fellow blacks like Alejandro Vilela, TiburcioSilbarrio, RosendoMendizábal, Harold Phillips and Juan Santa Cruz.
Carlos Posadas was a teacher of several musicians and instrumentalist like the famous concert pianist Maria Luisa Anido.
As a music composer, he is seen as one of the most original authors in the history of tango music in the country as a precursor to the present beautiful line that later passed to famous performers like AgustínBardi, Jose Martínez, Roberto Firpo, Juan de Dios Filiberto and HoracioSalgán.
Few of the works he did are still in the records of the National Library in the country. Other names of his works are known by the references of his modern days works some of the works he did are edited by J A Medina and Sons;

Other works he did on the tango music was never publishedand some of them are Pacho Quartet, Nicucho, La Pera de Cesáreo, Cuartelera, El Protegido, and MiCompadre. Four of his stand out tangos are; Retirao, recorded by Carlos Di Sarli with his orchestra on the 11thDecember, 1939 and then by Troilo10thJuly, 1957. Jagüel, which was recorded by Troilo in the year 1941, by Di Sarli in the year 1943, 1952 and also in the year 1956 and Juan D'Arienzo in the year 1967, Gordon Gold (Troilo in the year 1941 as well asD'Arienzo in 1967) and El Tamango (Troilo in the year 1941 and D'Arienzo in 1967).
