Club
Career
Paulão
was born in Luanda, he arrived in Portugal in the year 1994, and it was there
that he spent the first 8 years of his football career. He started with
Primeiro de Maio in his country and upon his relocation to Portugal, Paulão
joined Vitoria Setubal for the 1994/95 season. He played the total of 19
matches for the club, recording a goal to his name for the club. He joined
Benfica in the year1995, playing the total of 23 games and recording 3 goals to
his name for the club.
Paulão
left Benfica in the summer of the year 1997 and joined Academica, playing the
total of 13 games for the club. In the summer of the year 1998, Paulão joined
Aspinho. He played the total of 92 games for the club between the year 1998 and
the year 2002. He scored 21 goals for the club.
In the
year 2002, returned to his country to sign with Atletico Petro and Atletico
Sport Avaicao. He retired from active football at the age of 35.
International
Career
Paulão
was part of the Angolan national team for 12 years. He played his first game
for the national team of the country in the year 1989. He was among the players
of the national team that played in the 1996 African Cup of Nations in South
Africa.
At his
time with the national team of the country, he played in 8 FIFA World Cup
qualifying games for the country and he won five of the eight games he played
but never played in the FIFA World Cup.
From
his debut in the year 1989 for the national team of the country, Paulão played
the total of 34 matches for the national team of the country with 2 goals
recorded to his name. he retired from international football in the year 2001.
