Club Career
Hemdani began his football career with Cannes, where he played for two
seasons. He made a move to RC Strasbourg later where he spent three seasons. He
made a move to Marseille and assisted the club to get to the finals of the UEFA
Cup in the year 2004.
He made a move to Rangers in 14th June 2005 on a Bosman
transfer and signed a four-year deal with the club. He suffered from injury
problem in his first season with the club and waited till later October to play
his first match for the club against Dundee United. He helped the club to reach
the round of 16 stage of the Champions league for the first time in the history
of the club. The season finished with the club finishing third in the league
table and had no trophy. The player was moved to the central defense of the
team as the new manager of the team Paul Le Guen took over in the 2006/07
season. He scored his first goal for the club midway through that season. His
second goal for the club came in March 2007 in a UEFA Cup game that was played
against CA Osasuna, he scored the equalizer of the match in the injury time of
the game.
He was named the club’s player of the year on the 16th of
April 2007 at the award ceremony of the club. He played his 100th
game for the club on the 13th March 2008 in a UEFA Cup game that was
played against Werder Bremen, the club went on to get to the final of the
competition in that season. In the finals, Hemdani played the full 90 minutes
and that was the last game he played for the club as he was frozen out of the
first team of the club. He left the club on the 1st June 2009 after
he had played the total of 108 matches for the club and scoring two goals for
the club.
International Career
Hemdani played his
first match for the Algerian national team on the 31 May 2008 in a 2010 World
Cup Qualifier, which was played against Senegal after he had decline the chance
to be added to the Algerian national team on many occasions in the past.
