playwright who was assassinated by Islamists.

Biography
Abdelkader Alloula was born in Ghazaouet in the western part of the
country; he studied drama in France and joined the Algerian National Theatre
when it was created in the year 1963 after the independence of the country. His
works, which are mainly Algerian Arabic, are the following;

Abdelkader Alloula was working on the Arabic version of the Tartuffe when
he was killed by two members of the Islamic Front for Armed Jihad at the time
of the Ramadam on the 10th March 1994, when he left his residence in
Oran.
