Faouzi Chaouchi was born on the 5th December 1984 in Bordj Menaiel. He is a professional football player from Algeria. He played the role of a goalkeeper for the Algerian national team and he played last for MC Alger in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1.

He is seen as a national hero by many members of the country, as he put in a heroic display in the play-off that put the national team of the country into their first World Cup Finals since the year 1986 at the flop of their bitter rivals Egypt.  He denied the Egyptian national team all scoring chances. In the year 2010, he was confirmed to be the highest paid Algerian football player earning 13 million Algerian dinars.
Chaouchi was born to Houria and Rachid Chaouchi, a former goalkeeper that played for the club, JS Bordj Menaiel. It was his father that discovered the talent of his son when he watched him play in the neighborhood.
Club Career
Chaouchi started his playing career with the club in his hometown, JS Bordj Menaiel. He was the captain of the team during the 2005/06 season. With his good form, he conceded just 7 goals after playing the total of 32 games for the club, and that attracted the interest from so many other clubs in the country.
Chaouchi signed a contract to play for JS Kabylie from Inter-Regions club JS Bordj Menaiel in the year 2006 on a three year deal. With the club, he won the Algerian Championnat National in the year 2008, and that was the greatest achievement of his career. He was remembered by the canary fans of the club for scoring a penalty in the match that was played against Cotonsport Garous in the CAF Champions League with a heavy shot. While he was with the club, it was rumored that he would leave the club at the end of the season and had talks with many other clubs like Lille OSC, ES Setif and MC Alger.
Chaouchi signed to play for ES Setif in June 2009, after the club has won the race to recruit the goalkeeper known for his impressive performance with the former club, JS Kabylie. In December 2009, Chaouchi assisted his club to win the North African Cup Championship Cup after winning ES Tunis in the finals of the competition, after a penalty shoot-out. He was given the award of the best goalkeeper of the tournament. On the 1st May 2010, he took part in the finals of the Algerian Cup, and that was in the match that was played against CA Batna and they won by 3-0 and assisted the club in lifting the Algerian Cup for the first time in 20 years and the 7th time in the history of the club.
In the year 2009, many European clubs showed interest in the goalkeeper, especially Olympique de Marseille.
On the 17th October 2010, there was a report that the goalkeeper was involved in a car crash, but was confirmed to be a minor accident and that the goalkeeper did not sustain any serious injuries from the accident.
On the 30th November, the Ligue National de football disciplinary committee took a decision to give the player a match ban and a fine of 20,000,00 Algerian dinars together with Khaled Lemmoouchia for contesting the penalty decision of the Ref in the match that was played against AS Khroub that finished 3-3. He was suspended in the match that played against MC Oran.
On the 19th July 2011, Chaouchi signed a contract with MC Alger, a year contract that will keep him in the club till the following year. In June 2012, he went to Turkey to negotiate on a contract offer with the clubs that were newly promoted to the Super Lig; Elazığspor and Kasımpaşa S.K..
International Career
Chaouchi got his first call-up to the algerian national team on the 4th February 2008 by the national team coach, Saadane for training that was held in France, after a good form with the club, JS Kabylie. He played his first game for the algerian national team in a friendly match that was played against DR Congo on the 26th March 2008, coming into the game as a sub in the half time for Lounes Gaouaoui.
On the 8th November 2009, he was chosen to play against Egypt in what was the most crucial game of his career and the reward was the remaining African place in the 2010 World Cup. He was the first choice goalkeeper for the algerian national team coach. He performed very well in the game and that sent off the Egyptian side off the tournament after winning the match 1-0. In December 2009, Saadane selected the goalkeeper to represent the country in the 2010 African Cup of Nations that was hosted by Angola.
Chaouchi started the match that was played against Slovenia and was the cause of the goal that won the match for Slovenia. He was replaced for the match that was played against England by the second keeper of the national team, Rais M’Bohli.
