Abdelmalek Cherrad was born on the 14th January 1981 in La
Tronche. He is a French-born Algerian international football player. He is
currently playing the role of a striker for the club, Grenoble Foot 38 in the
Championnat de France amateur.

Club Career
Cherrad started his football playing career with the club, OGC Nice in
the year 1998. His first full season as a professional footballer saw him five
times on the pitch. He spent 6 ½ seasons with Nice and he was loaned to many
club in France and outside France. He played for clubs like AS
Cannes, Espérance de Tunis, K.A.A. Gent and SC Bastia. The season he spent with
Bastia was impressive and he was signed by the club management. He spent 2 ½
seasons with the club playing 21 matches for the club and scoring 7 goals for
the club.
In the summer of the
year 2007, he was released by the club. In November 2007, he signed a contract
with an Algerian club, MC Alger. He was with the Algerian club for a season and
he went back to Bastia in the year 2008. He went back to Bastia on a year deal.
The season spell he had with the club saw him play 14 matches for the club and
he scored 2 goals for the club. He left the club in the summer of the year 2009
for a club that was promoted newly to the Ligue 2, AC Arles-Avignon. The club
released him at the end of the year 2009. He made a move to Maritimo in
Portugal in the January transfer window. In January 2011, he transferred to
Belenenses on loan for the latter half of the season and he went back to his
club, Maritimo and he was released by the club in the summer of the year 2011.
International Career
He was part of the
national team of the country that played in the 2004 African Cup of Nations and
finished 2nd in the group stage of the competition before they were
defeated by Morocco in the quarter finals of the tournament. He played the
total of 18 matches for the national team of the country and scored the total
of 7 goals for the country.
