After
the country freedom from fascist occupation in the Second World War and the
creation of the new Macedonian state, the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra was
invented in 1944 while 1947 was the creation of the Association of Musicians of
Macedonia. Shortly after, the first Macedonian radio show was created and it
was conducted by Todor Skalovski.

In
the 1950s, the first Macedonia ballet was led by Gligor Smokvarski and opera
Goce Kiril Makedonski were made. The era after these brought a relative rebirth
of Macedonian music that focused on modernization. The greatest notable
composers in this era were Zivko Firfov, Stefan Gajdov, Trajko Prokopiev, Todor
Skalovski, Zografski Tomislav, Mihajlo Nikolovski, Petre Bogdanov, Blagoja
Ivanovski and Vlastimir Nikolovski. One of the greatest notable music musicians
in this era were the opera singers Danka Firfova, Georgei Bozikov, Pavlina
Apostolova and Zina Krelja and pianist Ladislav Palfi.
