With the exclusion of the
Moldavian-based ensemble O-Zone, Romanian Europop has not attained substantial
popularity outside the borders of the country until the year 2005, when the
ensemble known as Morandi has attained achievement with songs written in the
English, Portuguese and other languages. The beat of Morandi, DJ Project, Fly
Project and few others indicates the provisional year to the Romanian Dance-Pop
of the late 2000s and early 2010s.

Thanks go to a couple of musicians like
Edward Maya, David Deeyay, Stan Alexandra, Play & win and others, a current
beat has appeared that has managed to attain the commercial achievement outside
the Romania and control the national TV and the radio station music charts.
This current beat, nicknamed derogatively by some popcorn after the name of one
its distinctive synths, is described by shiny danceable songs, hooks sometimes
based on fused accordion and simple lyrics written very frequently in English,
which was followed by the video often featuring young women. Popcorn has been
assessed some as the artificial (sometimes being even contracted to manele),
overly commercial repetition and by easily assessing, as a huge number of
producers and artists (which also include the singers that formerly attained
reputation in the early 2000s like Connect R or Andreea Banica)have changed
this beat in a short time of period. Though, since the Romanian spectralist is almost
unknown from the outside of the avant-garde music community, popcorn possibly
considered the first trend in the record of Romanian history to attain
momentum.
